Earlier today, Mr. Righty, you called me a douchebag in response to my piece about John "Boner" Boehner. Fair enough, although, I do prefer to think of my self as a giant asshole rather than a douchebag, but to each his own.
Now, to address the specific charges, you said:
I realized what a douchebag you really are while watching video of Joe Biden, Harry Reid, and other prominent Democrats, including 'The Annointed One', then Senator Barack Hussein Obama bash the 'Nuclear Option' or the Republicans use of Reconciliation in 2005. At that time, the Democrats were fiercely against this partisan practice, and refered to it as dangerous, and as His Magesty mentioned "Its not the way our forefathers intended the process to work."
Well, here's the thing, agree with what Biden, Reid and Obama said in your (probably fictional) clip - the "Nuclear Option" is dangerous - to both parties. It sets a precedent for which ever party happens to win the most recent Senate elections to squash minority rights. It effectively makes every minority Senator worthless and incapable of being ineffective. So, the "nuclear option" just as a real nuclear bomb, should only be used in the most extreme of circumstances.
The problem for people like you Mr. Righty, is that your boys, like Jim DeMint (R-SC), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Mark Kirk (Oops, he hasn't embarrassed us yet in Illinois) and Evan Bayh (Oh wait, he's on my side...uhh...at least he says he is), have created a situation where nobody in the U.S. Senate is effective. You can rant and rave all you want about how both parties are ineffective, but the reality is, that one party is making an effort get some things done and the other wants only to prevent that from happening. The only responsible thing for the majority party to do when faced with the option of either making 41% of the Senate completely worthless and ineffective or continue to allow that 41% to make the full 100% ineffective is for the majority to say the hell with the minority party and castrate them.
Look at this chart:
The GOP is simply irresponsible - they know their ideas are about as lousy as this guy's parking job and they also know that many Democratic ideas are likely to work...that is, if they are made law. If they never reach the president's desk, however, they can't work. And if they can't work then the Democrats can't claim credit for them and use their success to win in 2010. So rather than work to improve our country, the GOP would prefer to simply say "Fuck You!" to America and grind Congress to a complete halt in order to improve their chances of electoral success in November.
You can take your high and mighty talk of the Founding Father's preferences of party and shove it. Right now, even Madison, a major supporter of minority rights, would be appalled at the GOP use of the filibuster. It's about time to put an end to all this nonsense. Obama made an effort to reach out to the Republican Party and all the GOP did in return was demonstrate that, in their minds, no good deed shall go unpunished. To tell me that both parties are at fault here is, at best delusion and at worst just a flat out lie.
And by the way, how dare you take Hopwood out of context like that. You know damn well that "The He Did it" effect was originally used to describe the Republican strategy of blaming the 1906 San Francisco earthquake on the Democrats.
The GOP can bitch and moan all they want about killing the filibuster, but the truth is, if it is not killed soon, the Republicans will succeed in their effort to destroy America. After all, you said it yourself Mr. Righty - "Republicans are all in it together, they are against us - the American people."
P.S. you spelled referred and majesty wrong, therefore your entire piece is discredited.
You're so spot on! Those right-wing asshats could care less about health care reform and the health of American citizens. All they care about are their kickbacks and contributions. They're nothing but on the take shills. ESPECIALLY John Boner.
